Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) is aimed at imparting skill-based training to rural youth on agri-based vocational courses in agriculture & allied areas to promote employment of rural youth and for creation of skilled manpower to perform farm and non-farm operations. Rural youth of the age group of 18 years and above with minimum qualification up to 5th standard passed (not mandatory) shall be considered for skill training. The Govt. of India has identified about 50 skilling areas spanning Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries.
National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management (MANAGE), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare at National level will coordinate this activity through SAMETIs established at State level.
The training activities will be implemented through SAMETIs at State level & coordinated through ATMA at District level. The training to rural youths shall be imparted through KVKs, NYKs, FTCs and/or any other identified training institutions at State / District level.
